Trained at the Institute of Arts in Yogyakarta, Syaiful is one of the most talented artists to emerge from the contemporary Indonesian art scene.  His incredible precision and ability to use Mass culture* to bring together human objects has not only won him numerous art awards, but also substantial critical acclaim.  Syaiful’s creative nature and intense interest in human subjects as the main focal point of his work, has resulted in creating something that is both outstandingly innovative and exceptionally eye-catching.

He views the human form as ‘nodes’ of various things persona, popularity and even powers, which manifest themselves in every human subject.  His use of smooth, fine brushstrokes and sharp outlines combine to bring his work together to give his work a defined style that results in a striking portrayal of iconic figures.   Syaiful’s unusual technique of using expressive characters and figures to create an outline and illusion of a universally renowned and celebrated figure has had an enormous impact in the Indonesian Art Market.
